Exploring Geospatial Web Data - The GeoKnow and LinkedGeoData Projects

Résumé

Over the past decade Linked Data has emerged as a model for publishing structured data while geospatial information systems have been around for much longer. Currently, there is a trend for those two areas to move closer together thereby simplifying the publication and integration of geospatial data on the web. The talk will describe those developments in the context of the EU funded GeoKnow (http://geoknow.eu) project as well as the LinkedGeoData (http://linkedgeodata.org) community project. It will describe achievements and challenges towards realising a spatial data web and go on to present a number of specific tools for common operations over geospatial Linked Data.
